Alice Jolly has won the Pen Ackerley Prize and the V.S.Pritchett Memorial Prize. Her novel ‘Mary Ann Sate, Imbecile’ was runner up for the Rathbones Folio Prize in 2019 and won an O. Henry Award (twenty top short stories in the US in 2021). She is an active member of Just Stop Oil and has been arrested in the struggle against the Climate Emergency. She was a whistle blower in a recent court case against Oxford University.
The positive outcome of that case has improved pay and conditions for writers working in Higher Education. Her short story collection ‘From Far Around They Saw Us Burn’ was published by Unbound in 2023. Her new novel ‘The Matchbox Girl’ (which is about Dr Asperger) will be published by Bloomsbury in spring 2025.
