EXPLORE

Our venue, the Food Museum, is a little piece of paradise. This 75 acre site has an 18th century mansion house, walled garden, beautiful grounds, a windmill, orchard, farm animals, a secret wedding chapel and much more.

It was established as a space to collect, preserve and display objects from rural East Anglia, so there are gems around every corner. Primadonna festival goers have the rare chance to stay overnight and wake up to the Suffolk skies at this beautiful nature haven. Come and pitch your tent – bring your campervan – or glamp. We have some of the loveliest loos and showers you’ll ever find at a festival, too!

The site is a short walk from Stowmarket train station, and there’s lots of parking available. We’re right in the middle of the gorgeous little market town of Stowmarket and there’s even a supermarket right outside the venue for anything you have forgotten! The Food Museum was recently named by the Observer as one of “30 things we love in the world of food right now” and their changing exhibitions, as well as their permanent displays, are a must for all foodies and free to explore with your festival ticket.  It all adds up to the perfect setting for our unique mix of mind-expanding discussions and laid-back fun.

Get lost in whole worlds with our stellar lineup of authors, thinkers and mischief-makers – hag stones, modern love, eco-hope, microaggressions, AI, lady parts… and many more unmissable conversations.

We also have author signings there after every session, so follow your favourites off stage to get signed copies of their books! They will stock latest releases of every author you see at the festival.

Join our stellar lineup of thinkers and dreamers, mischief makers and party lovers for our packed all-weekend family programme.

A weekend of entertainment with workshops, mood-boosting yoga, a marketplace marquee with lots of independent makers and sellers, eclectic cabaret, dance, DJs and live music from tomorrow’s biggest names, all hand-picked for Primadonna.

FOR WRITERS

If you’re an already-published author, you’re hoping to secure that first book deal, or if you simply love to write – Primadonna has a whole world just for you as part of our warm and inclusive festival. There’s 1-2-1 industry advice, support building  your writing community, writers’ spaces for quiet reflection and creative workshops plus plenty more. All the details will be available in our Programme and on our Tickets pages.

FOR KIDS AND FAMILIES

Primadonna is a great introduction to the festival experience. Our gentle, peaceful location and room to explore makes us the perfect choice for families, with family-friendly workshops and kids / YA authors for young writers and book lovers. There are activities to keep big and little kids entertained all weekend, but expect plenty for families especially on the final day (Sunday) for the day-trippers amongst you.

FOOD, SHOPPING AND WELLNESS

Beyond books there’s every kind of entertainment, and of course great food with a spot of shopping. Choose from a range of food and drink stalls from burgers to pizzas to ice-creams! Visit the Food Museum cafe, where the goal is to grow as many fresh ingredients on-site as possible. Transforms into a late night bar from on Friday and Saturday nights. Meanwhile if you fancy a spot of shopping or a beauty treatment then head over to our stalls or our Wellness Area for some (retail) therapy to recharge, or get involved with demos and at-stall activities.
